Capalex will close at noon, on the 23th of December 2011 for Christmas shutdown and re-open again on Tuesday, 3rd January 2012.
SGS, a systems and services certification company, will next month be starting on the path towards the implementation of AS9100 at Capalex.
Energy Saving Programme - Work has started on the installation of a new office block roof, we expect it to be completed by mid November.
Energy Saving Programme - Capalex have this month, commissioned a billet furnace relining project. This is hoped to improve energy efficiency of one of the largest consumers of gas that Capalex have. When complete and measured, we will move onto the other billet furnaces.
This month, we have also contracted Service Aluminium to work on our continual quality improvements. This time they will be looking at methods to improve extrusion productivity and reduction in scrap/waste.
The two new extrusion line undercut saws, supplied by Addison Saws, were commissioned this month.
The saws are fully guarded, and the saw and clamping mechanism are such that an improved quality of cut is now achieved.
The Aluminium in Automotive Conference takes place on the 28th and 29th September at Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum, Birmingham.
Capalex representatives will be visiting "Subcon 2011", the subcontract manufacturing show at the NEC centre, Birmingham over the 7th to 9th of June.
Capalex have placed an order for 2 new extrusion line saws to improve cutting quality. These saws also have integral clamping and noise reduction acoustic hoods.
Capalex have placed an order for two new Nordson powder coating reciprocators. These electric units with variable stroke and speed adjustments, will replace the old pneumatic units.
Capalex have strengthened their CAD/CAM presence this year, by the installation and training of software from One CNC,making it faster and easier for us to design and prototype the machining of components and plate, both our own, bought in, or customer supplied, on our range of HAAS CNC machines.
